Beer for your Bones?

I know I enjoy a good porter or stout now and then. I have heard beer is good for your bones.  So is beer really good for your bones?  Apparently it is! An interesting study done in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition on pre and postmenopausal women shows that women who drank 1 or 2 beers each day had greater bone mineral density in their spines and hips than those who did not drink beer.    Apparently, beers with high levels of malted barley contain a large amount of the mineral silicon.  Silicon helps calcium and magnesium form bone.  Have an ale instead of a lager. Ales have more silicon. Sounds good to me! There are good food sources of silicon too.  Fruits (cherries, apples, oranges, raisins), veggies (cucumber, onion, cabbage, carrots, leafy greens, pumpkin, beets, bell peppers, soybeans), nuts, seeds and whole grains are also good sources of silicon.  Let's Go Out for a Beer for Better Bones!           Have a Beautiful Day!  xo Jill Licensed Cosmetologist,  Esth

What is a BB Cream?

So what exactly is a BB cream? BB creams are multi purpose treatment creams designed to heal blemished skin, improve skin texture, protect with SPF and prime the skin for makeup. BB stands for blemish balm, blemish bases or beauty balm.  They were created back in the 1950's and became an Asian beauty must. The US is just now catching on! BB creams can contain collagen stimulating peptides, vitamin C, light reflectors and pigments. They can be used alone on bare skin, used as a primer before your foundation or mixed into your foundation.
