Q&A: What does hypoallergenic mean?

Q. I am using a product that says hypoallergenic on it but I seem to be having a reaction to it. How can this be? It says hypoallergenic.

A. The term hypoallergenic means less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

Cosmetic manufacturers making the hypoallergenic products use ingredients that most people don't react to.

There is always the chance that somebody is going to be allergic to an ingredient no matter how benign it seems.

Stop using the product asap. Read the ingredient list. It's a good idea to write the ingredients down in a journal or put them in the notes on your phone. That way if you react to another product, you can try to narrow done the ingredient and avoid it in the future.

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?!
