How to get rid of lip wrinkles

Those nasty lip wrinkles! Vertical lines around your lips that happen as our skin ages. They get worse if you frequently make a puckering motion with your lips such as when smoking a cigarette, drinking from a straw and whistling.
drinking from a straw
Collagen and elastin production in our skin decreases as we age causing the skin to line, wrinkle and sag.

First of all, you must quit smoking. Cigarettes are the worst for aging the skin! Cigarettes not only cause the puckering motion of the lips, cigarettes breakdown collagen causing lots of wrinkles!

There are some easy things you can do to make lip wrinkles look less noticeable. They may not be gone but they will be less noticeable.

Make Lip Lines & Wrinkles Less Noticeable

Don't Pucker up
Avoid doing things that cause you to pucker your lips. The repeated motion of lip puckering creates lines of expression around the lips.

Ditch the straws and try not to whistle too much and no smoking!

Hit the Med Spa
An injectable dermal filler, such as Juvederm, can fill in the lines and increase collagen production.

Fillers temporarily smooth the lines maybe up to a year. A doctor performs this service.

Please note, these dermal fillers are not cruelty free.

You can also smooth them by having a laser treatment. Lasers resurface the skin, tighten and build collagen. A trained nurse, esthetician or doctor perform laser services in a doctor's office or med spa.

Home lip treatments

There are a few things you can do to at home to improve the appearance of lip wrinkles.

Plump up with Products
Use a serum and moisturizer that contain hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin. Moisturized plumped up skin hides wrinkles. Peptides, ceramides and retinol are also good ingredients to look for in wrinkle reducing skincare products.

Dr Dennis Gross Hydra Pure Firming Serum contains hyaluronic acid, peptides and lots of anti oxidants.

Derma E Hydrating Day Cream with Hyaluronic Acid is a nice natural hyaluronic acid moisturizer to try. There is a great night cream too.

Exfoliate
...With a Brush
Removing dull dead skin cells always makes the skin look younger and fresher. Try a cleansing brush such as the Bare Minerals Double Cleansing Brush

...With a Soft Peel

yonka gommage

Try a soft gel peel to exfoliate. One of my favorite skincare products is Yonka Gommage. It's a gentle effective peel and has no grains in it to scratch the skin. Your skin feels smooth and refreshed after using it!

There used to be Yonka Gommage 305 for dry, sensitive skin and 303 for the normal, oily skin.

Now there is just one Yonka Gommage formula perfect for any skin type.

...With a Scrub
You can also mix up your own sugar scrub to exfoliate with. I prefer brown sugar over white granulated sugar for facial scrub because it's less gritty on sensitive skin.

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Olive Oil

Mix brown sugar and olive oil together in a small bowl until smooth. Wet your lips. Apply scrub to your lips. Massage the lips and lip line in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Rinse, pat dry and apply moisturizer.

Suncreen
Use sunscreen daily. Ultra Violet radiation from the sun ages our skin and causes wrinkles.

A BB cream is great for daily use. BB creams are multi purpose skin care creams that contains sunscreen that are easy to apply everyday and they make you look gorgeous!

Water
Finally, always drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated....with no straw of course😉

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps.  They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Read more about blackhead, whiteheads and blind pimples This is a common problem for the under-eye area. It is a dry, delicate area of the skin. I see it a lot on my clients. Heavy products

Dermatofibromas

This post is all about dermatofibromas and some remedies to help make them look better and ways hide them. It includes my Amazon Affiliate Links to help you find the products I talk about. Q. I have this brown bump on my leg that won't go away. What can I do about it? A. It could be a dermatofibroma. I see them often on my leg waxing clients. A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated. A doctor will tell you not to worry about it because it's benign, but it's kind of ugly! Dermatofibromas are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  Be careful when shaving because a dermatofibroma may bleed and become sore if nicked. Don't think you can get rid of it by shaving it off. It will be an awful looking sore and will j
