Everyone talks about dark sexy smoky eye shadow, but so many people tell me they can't get it to look right. They look like they have black eyes.
An easy way to get the smoky look is to keep the darkness on the eyelid not in the crease or above the crease.
Use 2 colors on the lid to create a more dimensional less heavy look.
Keep the brow bone clean looking with a neutral creamy colored shadow or foundation.
This will give you a nice smoky look without looking too black.
How to do an Easy Smoky Eye
Here is what you will need:
a black eye liner pencil
a neutral cream color shadow
a charcoal or black shadow
a medium gray shadow
a light gray shadow
black mascara
Here are 7 easy steps:
Step 1
Apply neutral cream colored shadow to the brow bone.
Step 2
Apply light gray shadow to the inner half of your eyelid.
Step 3
Apply medium gray shadow to the outer half of your eyelid.
Step 4
Use an eye shadow brush to blend the colors.
Step 5
Step 5
Line the eyes with a black pencil. Get right in the lashes. Make the top line heavier than the bottom line.
Step 6
Step 6
Go over the black pencil with charcoal or black eye shadow using an eye liner brush for a smudgy look. Keep the shadow close to the lashes. The wider the shadow, the more black the eyes will look.
Step 7
Step 7
Apply 2 coats of black mascara to top lashes and 1 coat to the bottom lashes.
The Smashbox Full Exposure Palette is one of my all time favorite shadow palettes to get an easy smoky eye.
