Prom Makeup Trends

It was a bustling weekend for us at the salon. We did the hair and makeup for a prom fashion show. Crazy busy and lots of fun! It felt like preparing the beautiful young women to get in their gowns and go to the Oscars!

There are 4 big makeup trends to look for prom. The focus is on bold brows, bright lips, dewy moist skin and lashes.

To get the look....

Brows
Let your brows grow in. Then, have them professionally shaped. Use a brow powder to darken them and fill in the sparse areas. Choose a brow color close to the color of your eyebrow hairs.

Lips
Choose a bright rose, pink, coral or red lipstick. Use a lip liner to define your lips. Your lip liner color should be similar to the lipstick color to keep the bright color bold and clear.

Skin
Get your skin looking moist and dewy with a good skin care regimen. Use a facial cleanser formulated for your skin type, followed by a toner and moisturizer. BB creams are fabulous for creating a dewy look. I am loving Physician's Formula Super BB Cream right now. Luminizers are also great creating a dewy look.

Lashes
I like to place a lot of focus on the eye lashes, stretching them as long as possible with mascara and lash fibers. There is nothing more alluring than beautiful fluttery lashes! It's time to schedule your brow shaping and prom makeup appointment to get the time you want.

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps. They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Dermatofibromas

A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated.
