Bridal Makeup: Mother of the Groom

It's wedding season! I had the pleasure of doing some makeup for the mother of the groom on Saturday. As a future Mother of the Bride, I know we mother's want to look beautiful, fresh and young looking on wedding day.

She had the most gorgeous tan glowy skin. She doesn't wear a lot of makeup normally and didn't want to look over done, but wanted to look a little glitzy to compliment to her fabulous muted gold dress. 

My plan was to keep her skin looking dewy, define her brows and eyes, give her eyes a bit of nice metallic shimmer and give her lips a natural but lightly shimmery look. I'll give all the tips and some Amazon Affiliate link to find the best products.

Mother of Groom/ Mother of Bride Makeup Tips

A makeup problem with older skin is creasing. The skin needs coverage, but too much foundation and concealer can settle into the natural creases in the skin. 

The other issue is the use of powder. Too much powder can cause a dry caked look on older skin. 

Always apply a good moisturizer before the foundation application.

Luckily for me, this client has beautiful skin that required minimal foundation. I used a wet makeup sponge application to create a sheer layer of foundation to even her skin tone.

I also used under eye concealer that was lightly powdered to help minimize creasing.

For her eye shadow, I used a combination of peach, gold and and charcoal with a greenish tint on her eyelids. A matte taupe in her crease. A matte cream on the brow bone topped with a bit of Becca Liquid Highlighter . Shades of peach tend to create a youthful look.

Fiber lash extensions made her lashes look amazing. Long lashes also create a youthful appearance.

 Brow powder in a medium brown, helped to fill in her brows and define their shape. Full brows are another way to create a youthful appearance.

Bronzer, coral blush and Becca Liquid Highlighter complimented her tan glowy cheeks. Glowy skin make up look younger!

A soft shimmery nude pink lipstick defined her lips with natural color. Avoid bold and dark lip colors for a younger fresh look.

So to recap, to create a younger looking makeup, use these tips

Apply a good moisturizer first
Apply a thin layer of foundation with a damp makeup sponge
Keep face powder to a minimum
Use peachy shades of makeup
Fill in your brows
Create long lashes with lash fibers
Avoid bold and dark lipstick colors
Use a liquid highlighter to create a glow on your cheeks

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne.
