How to Spray Tan your Face

We love our spray tans! They make us look gorgeously tan without the sun damage to our skin. If you are using a spray formula, how do you apply the spray self tanner to your face? I give you a bit of application advice.

Don't spray the tanner directly on your face! Spray it onto a makeup sponge, then use the sponge to apply the tanner to your face. so you aren't actually spray tanning your face, your just self tanning it. Cosmetic wedges are perfect. They are inexpensive and easy to find.

How to apply Spray Tan to your Face

Step 1: Exfoliate
Exfoliate your face prior to application with an exfoliating product for made faces only. A body exfoliating product will be too rough for your face. 

 I always love YonKa Gommage. It's an effective, gentle spa/salon soft peel product. It is a gel you apply to your face, allow it to become sticky then roll it off with your fingers. Rinse off the residue and you're ready to move to the next step.

Step 2: Moisturize
A thin layer of moisturizer before application of self tanner will help you achieve a more even tan. 

 Apply your favorite facial moisturizer. My favorite for oily skin is Ole Hendriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator. It's great for summer time oily skin!

Step 3: Apply the Tanner
Spray the self tanner onto the cosmetic wedge and apply it to your face like you would apply foundation. 

 Applying 2 thin layers of tanner instead of one thick layer will give you a more even tan. 

 Apply one layer. Wait 15 minutes, then apply the second coat.

You could just try a creamy formula instead, but if you are using a spray tanner you like on your body, you should use the same product on your face for a good color match.

There are many good cream and mousse self tanning products that give a nice tan without making you look orange like someone we see on the news everyday these days!

 Fake Bake The Face Self Tanning Lotion and Body Drench Quick Tan Instant Bronzing Mousse are two good ones to try. 

 Follow the same application procedure as the spray tanner. Exfoliate, Moisturize and Apply. 

 Apply the cream or mousse directly to your face using gloved fingers to massage on a smooth even layer. Always read the product label for the manufacturers specific directions for best results.

 A spray tan is not a real tan so it gives you no protection from the sun's UV rays. Always wear a sunscreen over you fake tan.

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne.
